To whom it may concern, Please find attached jpegs of my selected artwork for the forthcoming Art & Democracy III exhibition. TITLE: Den bästa demokratin pengar kan köpa (The best democracy money can buy) DESCRIPTION: Paper, wood, household emulsion, Oil paint on canvas 2004 DIMENSIONS: 40in x 40in This piece explores the current views on globalisation and capitalism. I've placed media cuttings and images of capital punishment to make the viewer examine his/her own thoughts on the so-called Free World in which the western world lives. TITLE: Hem är här (Home is here) DESCRIPTION: Paper, card, fabric, and oil paint on canvas 2002 DIMENSIONS: 20in x 40in Here I explore the country of Sweden and its important stance on democracy and neutrality. Sweden has a long history of good people relations and a major player in world peacekeeping operations. TITLE: Från värsting till mästare, hur känns det? (From thug to champion, how does it feel?) DESCRIPTION: Paper, cloth, and oil paint on canvas DIMENSIONS: 25in x 50in Images to challenge emotions, particularly ethnic rights in the community, inspired this piece. Its title tells the viewer that we are all learning and on a constant curve to improve welfare of all races. TITLE: Jag tycker att du ska saga ja (I think you should say yes) DESCRIPTION: Paper, emulsion paint and charcoal on paper DIMENSIONS: 15in x 30in This piece was painted in response to the UK's plans to join the European super state (which breaches, in my opinion, basic human rights). Its also was inspired by George Orwell's 1984 and the methods governments use to 'force' its populations into agreeing with policies whether they infringe their civil liberties or not TITLE: Kanske finns det inget svar (Maybe there is no answer) DESCRIPTION: Wood, paper, metal, and oil paint on canvas DIMENSIONS: 15in x 15in I think the title and newspaper clippings in this piece some up my message and thoughts well. What are the solutions? Why are governments advocating such loose forms of democracy? Are you really in control of your country? The user is challenged to think about the world they live in. I look forward to hearing from you, Regards Elliot West
