During the last five years I have been expressing my frustration over our
loss of individual rights and the manipulation of the freedom of the press
through a series of collages. The faces featured, taken from the news, are
themselves icons, a representation of the New Millenniums’ foibles, fables
and fears. More important than who these people are, is what they
represent and what they hide: what we hear and how we are distracted
from the truth.

Jorge Amado, in “The War of the Spirits“ sums it up best when he says,
”there was a hidden reality, a secret country that didn’t get into the
news…No criticism was permitted: censorship, corruption and violence were
the tools of the government.”
