"To Live"
An epic story about a family during China's tumultuous times from the 1940's to the 1960's.
Directed by Zhang Yimou and
starring Gong Li
Based on the book of the same name, by author Yu Hua, which was initially banned in China.

Mr. Song is a recipient of
American Library
Association's 2005 Paul
Howard Award for Courage
and winner of the 21st
Centuray Librarian National
Award by Syracuse University
in 2004. Mr. Song is a
librarian faculty of California
State University, Los
Angeles. He received his MA
on China Studies at the
University of Colorado at
Boulder and MLS at the
Indiana University at
Bloomington.
He has long devoted himself
to preserving the true history
of China’s Cultural Revolution
and combating government
censorship through his
myriad publications. He is a
leading bibliographer on
China studies, particularly on
the Cultural Revolution (1966-
1976) internationally.
